Paul Harris Fellow - Rotarian Joanne Healy
At our Annual Changeover Dinner on 26 June 2000, the Rotary Club of Canberra South Inc. named its newest Paul Harris Fellow - Rotarian Joanne Healy.
This is the text of the citation:
Paul Harris Fellow – Rotarian Joanne Healy
Joanne is only the second member of our Rotaract Club to join our Rotary Club.
Joanne joined the Rotaract Club of Canberra South in 1989. For as long as Joanne was a member of Rotaract, she was a very active Rotaractor at both Club and District levels.
Joanne served extensively on the Board of the Rotaract Club holding virtually every position possible, including Secretary and Treasurer. Joanne served as Rotaract President in 1994-95.
Joanne served as the Rotaract District Coordinator for Project Santa in 1995-96 – an extremely demanding, but rewarding, District responsibility.
Joanne joined the Rotary Club of Canberra South Inc. in July 1996. From that moment, Joanne's participation and enthusiasm has been nothing short of remarkable! Joanne has been a more than willing participant in activities and projects and in the life and administration of the Rotary Club.
Joanne has served the Club extremely capably as Secretary in 1997-98 and as International Director in 1999-2000. In 1999-2000 Joanne has also been our Attendance Officer and Arawang Canteen Coordinator and has done a marvellous job in those roles. Something we have come to expect as normal for Joanne.
Joanne has served at District level as a member of the Rotary Overseas Medical Aid Committee for District 9710 and in 2000-01 will Chair that Committee. Joanne's enthusiasm for this area of Rotary's work is considerable and clearly evident to all.
Joanne has clearly devoted herself to the ideal of Rotary – Service Above Self. If there is any way she can make time to support a Rotary activity, she does so wholeheartedly.
Joanne has always been only too willing to assist with any project or to take a leadership role in seeing a project to a successful completion. Her family provide her great support. A very clear example of this is the presence of her family here tonight. Joanne's family is also an important part of her Rotary life.
Joanne has a lengthy history of service to the community. Her service began as she took leadership roles in Venturers where Joanne became a Warranted Leader.
Joanne has also served the community as a referee at Netball and Australian Rules Football.
The Rotary Club of Canberra South Inc. is proud to name Joanne Lesley Healy a Paul Harris Fellow in due and proper recognition of her more than 10 years, committed, enthusiastic and dedicated service to Rotary and Rotary ideals through both the Rotaract Club of Canberra South and this Club, and for her devoted service to our community.
