Paul Harris Fellow - Past President Hec de Borzatti

This is the text of the citation:

This tribute is presented to

Hector de Borzatti

for his contribution to the Canberra South Rotary Club.

Hec joined our Club on the 18th August 1973, and is the sole Charter Member left in the Club.

Hec and Fabia have been respected by generations of Rotarians and their families.

Hec has been part of the ACT Taxi Industry as a full time owner/driver since 1975. His first official appointment at Aerial Taxis was on the Supervisory Committee in the early 1980's, after which he was appointed to the Committee of the Canberra Taxi Proprietors Association in 1985 and elected as a Director of the Board in 1986. He is still a Director and this represents his long standing, knowledgeable and well respected position in the taxi industry.

Hec has held many positions in Rotary including Attendance Officer 1975-76, 1992, 1993 and 1994, Treasurer 1983-84, International Director 1985-86. He was a member of F.A.I.M. Team in February 1986 to Papua New Guinea to assist at the Ramu Valley Catholic mission.

This wealth of experience and wide range of contacts made Hec an ideal candidate for President in 1988-89. His year as President was a momentous one embodying the chartering of a new Rotary Club at Tuggeranong. This set the scene for a revised role which has continued to this day for our Rotary Club.

The enthusiasm and energy for community involvement displayed by Hec is not matched by many Rotarians wherever they may be.

The survival, fellowship and community projects enjoyed and undertaken by our Club is in no small measure due to Hector de Borzatti. He is a most worthy recipient of a

Paul Harris Fellowship.
