Cooking Breakfasts by the Hundreds!

For many years now the Rotary Club of Canberra South has been cooking breakfasts at the annual National Folk Festival.

The Festival is held each Easter week-end. The venue is Exhibition Park in Canberra (affectionately known as: EPIC).

Members of the Rotary Club of Canberra South arrive almost before the sun and the sparrows are up each morning to cook hot breakfasts for the Festival patrons camping at the Grounds. There has never been a warm morning recorded by any of the members attending! It is freezing cold - which makes it easy to understand how we are able to sell hundreds of breakfasts each morning of the Festival.

In fact, we now find that many locals are coming in for Breakfast before they start their day at the Festival!

This project allows us to make some money for our community work. It is also a service we are able to provide the Festival patrons by giving the campers a means of at least one hot meal on the cold Easter mornings.

Environmentally Friendly

Over the years the National Folk Festival has become extremely environmentally conscious.

The Rotary Club of Canberra South is proud that it has been able to support this initiative through the use of environmentally friendly plates, cups and cutlery with which we serve our food and drinks to our customers.

We also encourage the campers to bring their own cups/mugs and utensils.
