The Project

We initially started running the Arawang Netball Centre Canteen as a trial fundraising and community support activity. This was back in 1992.

We are still managing and running the canteen every Saturday of the Netball season!

It has proven a very successful activity for us - both in terms of supporting the community and in terms of raising funds we can use in other parts of the community, both locally and overseas. But having said all that, though, it is also great fun! Cold on those really chilly Canberra mornings, but still fun!

Support from Tuggeranong

As a result of the decline in the number of members in Canberra South, we have enlisted the support of the Rotary Club of Tuggeranong. The arrangement is that Canberra South continues to manage the Canteen and supply one member for each of the two daily shifts. Tuggeranong supports with the supply of one member for each shift.

We see this as a shining example of two Rotary Clubs working together very successfully. It works for us on the financial and staffing levels as well as providing a wonderful vehicle for fellowship and getting to know our fellow Rotarians in another Club.
